Mark Amies

I have worked at Photomart in the Sales Department since June 2004, and I have found it very interesting dealing with our varied customer base. I have a particular interest in the Event Photography market , and have seen this develop enormously in my time here. I enjoy listening and talking to customers, which I think is the key to a good sales person. I am now the Sales Manager, a postion that gives me a sense of great achievement and I am grateful for. I can honestly say that I have never worked for a company like Photomart before, the challenges I have met have certainly helped develop myself far more than any other job. My role here goes beyond just sales, and I have been able to help in other areas of the company, especially in terms of marketing and strategy.

Before arriving at Photomart I had worked in a number of Photographic Agencies, the last one being Camera Press, where I worked in the archive and latterley in the Digital Production Department, where I was scanning and retouching the archive collection. Camera Press is recognised as one of the UK's most established photo agencies that handles work for some of the great names, including Lord Snowdon, Cecil Beaton and Yousuf Karsh, to name just a few. My five years at CP gave me a very good feel of the work that photographers do, and the business they are in. I was fortunate to work there in the dying days of pre-digital. Within the last year of my time there, the black and white and colour labs were closed down, which was sad, but at least I got to see some of the hard work that went into producing the great images maintained by the company.

Prior to my years at Camera Press, I had also worked at Rex Features, and Robert Harding, and before this I had studied at The University of East London, where I gained a degree in Visual Theories and Film Studies.

In terms of my own interests I enjoy old TV and Films ( the Britsh the better! ), and an obssesive collector of diecast model vehicles.
