Photographer Cleared of Fraud!
Levi Hill, the man who claimed to have invented colour photography in 1850 but was long suspected a fraud, has been partly cleared by researchers.The researchers for the Smithsonian and Getty organizations found that Hill's colour daguerrotypes had indeed been created by a genuine photo chemical process, but that his rather basic colour result had been substantially enhanced by disguised hand tinting.
