The new Mitsubishi CP-3800DW is a best-of-class portrait printer that beats the pants off most of the competition. It has a light weight of not much more than 14kg and is extremely small and compact, making it ideal for event photography. It's fast, producing a borderless 8"x12" in just 35 seconds. It's roll-fed to eliminate paper pickup problems. It's front-loading (on a slide-out tray) and has a convenient cassette ribbon instead of fiddly spools. During printing the paper doesn't protrude from the printer until after it is printed - in theory this can help to reduce dust intake to the head. And you can print 6"x8"s on it too, from the same roll as 8"x12". Cost per print at the time of writing is lower than on most competing models. The only boxes this printer doesn't check are that there is no matte media option, and you can't print 8"x10" and 8"x12" from the same roll. (If you need those features, then you need the SONY UP-GR700. But you'll need deep pockets to buy that, you won't be able to carry the UP-GR700 very far, and you won't be able to keep it in a small space!)
