Welcome to Summer Show

Following on from our sucessful Spring Show, we will have another set of seminar/presntations from two notable Event Photographers, and one presentation on studio/lighting set ups.

We wil also have representatives from both Sony and Fuji along on the day.
Attendess will need to decide on which presentations they would like to see, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

These days have proven to be of much value to those attending, and many working relationships have been struck through the chance to meet other photographers.

Workshops

Event Photography Seminar 1 - Dave Burlison of Burlison Photography

"Increased Profits from your Event Photography"

Dave (far right of the picture) will be presenting a fun and interactive session on shooting smart at an event and how to put the buzz and the sizzle back into photographing one!

“Event Photography is not just about ten quid a print - thank you very much,” says Dave. It is a marketing feast with literally hundreds of opportunities for further business, and Dave is going to show you how to canvas for those opportunities.

Dave will also be giving away loads of other little tips and tricks that not only helped to make his photography business a massive success but also earned him Test Valley Business of the Year finalist.

Dave will be talking about pre-qualifying sales in order to maximise potential at an event, up selling and pre emptive selling and making people feel good about themselves before they even step in front of the camera but even more importantly, you will also learn how to get people to spend more money!

Dave will also cover things like logistics, workflow and kit and he will be explaining how to employ staff efficiently and why the photographer and staff are pivotal to the success of your events and ultimately the success of your business.

Dave’s workshop will definitely benefit any existing event photographers and also anyone who is completely new to the business. Be sure not to miss it!

Dave will be demonstrating market-leading event photography printers like the Sony UPDR 200 and other Sony print solutions and he will also be showcasing the unique NEW event printing solution the Sony UP-CR20L, also known as the Super Snaplab.

Event photography Seminar 2 - Mike Weeks of Dorset Photo Event

"Event Photography - The Next Step"

So you are doing events and you want to explore some other avenues and ways of working that could increase your customer base and products. Starting from the beginning with the simplest of set-ups I hope to show a number of ways that you can adapt what you are already doing without having to go to great expense and how you should plan to increase your business.

There is a lovely saying that ‘You do not want all the business you can get – you want all the profitable business you can get’ so are there ways that you can turn the unprofitable jobs into profitable jobs? I have learnt through my mistakes and hopefully I can help you avoid making the same ones.

There will be the opportunity to see how the use of modern technologies such as wireless and Chroma key can make your life easier.

Photography Seminar 3 - Damian McGillicuddy, Lighting and Portrait

We are very pleased to announce that Mr Damian McGillicuddy will be giving the Lighting and Portrait seminar at the Show. Damian is a very well respected Photographer and a talented presenter to boot.

Current SWPP & BPPA Glamour Photographer of the year, 5 time UK Master Photographer of the Year and holder of over 300 awards and titles for his edgy innovative photographic style; Damian McGillicuddy Lord of Kerry will be honoured to talk at the 2009 National Convention on behalf of the association he is proud to be a member of.

The photographer widely known as “The Magician” for lighting techniques that transform the everyday and ordinary into something dramatic, different and stylized may very well find himself barred from the “Magic Circle” for this talk!

Damian will give a short presentation of his unique, stylish and narrative driven imagery and then using specially prepared slides and diagrams share with you not only the concept and design of a selection of the imagery but show you EXACLTY how it was lit, with what and why it was done that way… no holds barred.

You can read more about him here.
